#295 - be inspired by skylines

Of course when I created this prompt, I knew exactly which city skyline which was likely to feature on my page. And I'm sure it won't surprise you either.

It had to be New York from my most recently trip and it was wonderful to pick out two of my favourite views from this time around and bring them together on a page for the Simple Scrapper Creative Team. I used a sketch from the Simple Scrapper premium membership (find out more here) as well as a Story Starter from Simple Scrapper - Favourites.

I have a selection of supplies that I use for all my NYC layouts and I find myself adding bits and pieces to that kit as time goes on but the layouts all have a similar look to them which makes me happy - when I finally get around to filing away the hundreds of layouts I have sitting on my Kallax, that New York album will really have quite a few layouts in there. I've realised though that I need to get more organised with recording the stories I want to really capture rather than just doing random moments!

Anyway, here's my layout.

I got happy with the floral paper and spent half an hour or so fussy cutting a bunch of pretty florals and leaves to layer up. I love how all the elements look good together even though they are different collections.

Do you have a skyline to feature? It doesn't even have to be a city view - I have several ideas from my trips around Germany so I may revisit this prompt again when I have time and inspiration.

Challenge #295 - week of 9th July 2018

I've been on my travels. I love travelling and when I'm visiting somewhere I love and spending time with someone I love too, all the better, don't you think?

I had the luck and pleasure of getting to travel to New York to visit our beloved Whimsical Musings friend Pam and I enjoyed every single minute. Of course.

One of the things I love the most about New York is the fantastic skyline which I got to enjoy from the ground, from up high and from the water. All fantastic in their own way.

This week, I'd like you to be inspired by skyline beauty.

You could have your own big city photos that need scrapping or a story about visiting a city that you're itching to tell. How about contrasting big and small cities or a trip you took on the water where you had the chance to take a look at the city in a new way. You might have experiences high above the city or down on the ground. Maybe you even have some skyline paper that needs using - one of my favourites of all time is the Kelly Purkey for BasicGrey - love that! While this is a somewhat more limited prompt than some, I think there's room for interpretation here with travel season hitting a peak at this time of year!

#83 inspired by big cities

I promised to try and catch up with some of the prompts I've missed recently and LOAD combined with Counterfeit Kit Challenge is perfect for that.

I loved the prompt WM#83 - to be inspired by Big Cities. Right up my street (excuse the pun!)

We have lots of big city experiences even if we don't live in one any more. I could have made a dozen pages with all different aspects of our big city adventures but I chose to concentrate on our 48 hours in Singapore last December.

I knew I wanted to use my February Urban kit and the papers and colours were perfect for a little contrast between time in the middle of nowhere and in the middle of everything!

And then I piled up a whole lot of product from my May Excursion kit to try out a new style that I've been seeing around recently. I was unsure what the layout would be until I realised how busy it had become and the few additions I added from my stash happened to be some travel based items. And then the simple, single photo of Singapore came to mind.

I'm so enjoying going back in time and finishing off some older prompts.

#83 inspired by Big Cities

Well, it should be said that big city living is BUSY. I have been in a whirlwind of activity this past week and it feels like I don't own my time anymore. but I am still loving it.

Anyway, I felt super bad when I didn't get to post my layout before going away last weekend. However, I did complete it in time and I finally get to share it below.

 I decided to keep it simple and current. Ended up using up the rest of the letters in this alpha set to create my title and design element on the bottom. The idea isn't originally mine but I forget now where I saw it to credit it.

 i wanted to keep everything a little mismatched and grungy - just like my city! So the embellishments don't really go together and that is ok by me.

  

i also ran some ink over the letters to grunge them up a bit. Nothing clean about big cities (unless it's Washington DC or Boston. Those two cities are impeccable).

Challenge # 83 - week of March 25th, 2013

Well, hello again. 

It has now been one week since my move and I finally got everything in order in my scrap space. So I can join in again on live prompts. I have been itching to create and craft, but unfortunately my new schedule and lifestyle left little room for all that. 

I have been taken in by the city.

And thus, your prompt for this week is born. I want you to be inspired by BIG CITIES. I would have challenged you to be inspired by New York City but I wanted to make it broader than that to give you some flexibility. 

Perhaps you can document a vacation to London or Paris or Madrid or Miami or Chicago or San Francisco  ... or your love/hate of big cities... or something specific about big cities, such as the noise, the pollution, the people... You can just use products that remind you of big cities, like skyline stamps which are trending... or list out your bucket list of cities to visit... or write about your favorite big city... or your city... 

Oh, the possibilities!

I have more than my share of stories to tell this week, so I will leave you to it. Can't wait to see how you are inspired by big cities. As always, please remember to share with us on the gallery with the tag WM#83.
