#46 inspired by thinking

As you might recall, there's been a major change in my life over the last few months and I have to admit that I find myself again and again sitting there at my desk pondering these changes. Wondering how on earth I've ended up where I am, in another country, in another job, speaking another language. Makes you think ;-)

And so my layout was born.

The company colour is orange where I work now so my July Counterfeit kit, Beach-house, was perfect with it's rich summer tones. I added in a couple of orange tags for my journalling and tucked them behind the photo block for a little privacy. The photos are a little abstract but they represent a lot, as do most of the elements I've added to the layout.

And I couldn't resist adding a little orange glitter to the layout to add more sparkle to my misting.

Where did your thoughts take you this week? We'd love to see!

#45 Inspired by social media

I really related to Pam's prompt this week once I'd given it some thought. Does that happen to you?

At first, I just thought that I don't really engage on FB (I'm a serious lurker) and I stopped tweeting some time ago so it would be hard to really fulfill this prompt. But then I started to think about my own blog and of course Whimsical Musings, and Flickr, and Instagram, and What'sApp and realised that I am totally and utterly engaged, just not on the minute by minute tweet/update kind of thing. And I need this connection or I'm lost. If I don't have online access, I feel helpless! Silly I know.

Pam is such a huge part of that connection these days. I am always amazed at how close I can feel to her and yet we've never even spoken to each other :-)

So the subject of my layout was suddenly clear. Our mutual creative endeavour and the reason you are here reading this and sharing your creations!

It's not a deep and meaningful layout. I will make one of those but today I was in the mood to play a little with my CKC June kit, Subtlety and to use some inspiration I found over on Pinterest (here).

I'm a bit disappointed that the banner isn't really diagonal enough and now just looks a bit wonky! But anyway!

I'll be getting the next post up for the morning but in the meantime, don't forget to share your creations (with the tag WM#45) over at our Flickr gallery (use the page link at the top of the blog here - did you notice that Pam has given us a bit of a facelift!?!).

Until then, Happy 1st July!

#28 - inspired by longing

It was a lot of fun last weekend to identify what I was longing for and to find photos to represent those for this week's challenge.

I know that there are many things on my list right now and I identified a whole pile of my own photographs for possible layouts. I guess I should write them all down or put these photos to one side for future layouts. Do you do this too? How do you make sure you don't miss out on layout ideas that come while you are in the middle of another one?

Just to give you an insight, there were holiday photos from our last holiday (a VERY long time ago), close ups of cocktails on the balcony from my personal cocktail mixer :-), smiley nephew and niece faces to remind me that I miss them and a close up of my mum's last boxer dog's ear which is the part that I just cannot ever resist. And these were just the first few ideas that came to mind.

In the end, I went with something simple that means a lot to me at the moment. And I decided to give you a sneak peek into my March Counterfeit Kit Challenge kit by using it right after having made it up.

I knew I wanted to write quite a lot but I also wanted to keep it a bit private so another of my current faves made an appearance: a vellum envelope. It keeps it visible but private. I filled it with the heart punch outs too which looks so cute. I made up my own chevron elements by cutting up the striped papers I've deliberately included in my kit for this purpose. I am loving the yellow with soft blue and grey. So pretty.

I think I'm still on the green kick from last week too - the woodgrain here behind the vellum tag is the packaging from the SC wooden butterflies!

I'm looking forward to seeing what Pam is yearning for and hope to see some of you join in too - link up your creations over in the Flickr gallery with the tag WM#28.

#12 Inspired by "scary"

In honour of posting this challenge on Halloween, this week I asked you to be inspired by:

And I know this prompt was a little "out there" if you didn't take it at Halloween face value but I hope that you found a way to make it mean something for you.

I had lots of ideas but decided to go with a little-known fact about me.  I used my new Counterfeit Kit Challenge kit, November Glory which just coincidentally had a die-cut sheet printed with numbers. I totally didn't plan that! But I liked the more muted colours of the background and decided to pep it up a bit with some fussy cutting from an Urban Lilly sheet.

I'm looking forward to seeing what direction Pam took with this prompt and don't forget that the next challenge will be up tomorrow.

Knowing Pam, it'll be another winner! ;-)
